Accessibility Statement

We want everyone pursuing a captain's license to be able to use this site, including people who rely on assistive technology. We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and check it as part of shipping.

What is in place today

• Full keyboard operability, with a skip-to-content link and a visible focus outline on every interactive element.
• Color contrast that meets AA in both the light and the dark theme, which follows your device preference.
• Reduced-motion support: if your system requests reduced motion, non-essential animation is removed.
• Data tables (the processing tracker and the state charter map) stack into readable blocks on narrow screens.
• Semantic HTML structure, labeled form controls in the sea-time calculator, and text alternatives for meaningful graphics.

How we check it

Every release runs an automated accessibility scan (axe-core, covering the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rule sets) against the homepage, the sea-time calculator, and a guide, and a release does not ship with any serious or critical violation. Automated testing does not catch everything, so we also do manual keyboard checks. If you find a barrier, we want to fix it.
